Essex is on the rise. Our communities are strong.
Our future is full of promise.

Now is the time to go further - with leadership rooted in Conservative values.

That means personal responsibility. Pride in our communities. Trust in hard work and enterprise.

Common sense choices. Bold ideas. Real results.

Quality jobs. Safer streets. More opportunities

Essex is ready for its next chapter. Let’s lead it - together.

Meet Louise McKinlay

I’m running to be your Conservative candidate for the first Mayor of Greater Essex with one clear promise: to put our county first - its people, its places, and our shared future.

Being born and raised in Essex means this county isn’t just where I live - it’s part of who I am. For me, this is personal. I’ve built my life here with my husband, we are raising our children here, we’ve established our business here, and I’ve proudly served as a Conservative councillor for over 20 years. I understand what matters to people across Essex because I live it too. I share the same hopes, concerns and ambitions as the families and communities I’m privileged to represent.

I couldn’t be prouder to call Essex home. Our communities are ambitious, our people are resilient, and our businesses are enterprising. This is a county full of promise - but to realise that potential, we need the right leadership: leadership that’s bold, determined, and rooted in the real world.

I’m a proud and committed Conservative who believes in opportunity, personal responsibility, and the power of community. I believe in backing people to succeed, not telling them how to live their lives.

Those values have guided everything I do. Whether it’s championing education and skills for our young people, forging partnerships with local and international businesses to unlock opportunity, or cutting council tax to ease pressure on working families, my record is clear: I deliver results that matter.

My leadership is shaped by three core principles: listen, understand, act. That’s how real change happens - by being present, by staying connected, and by making practical decisions that improve everyday lives.

Now is our moment, a moment for Essex Conservatives to lead with purpose and ambition. To go further. To deliver more.

That means leadership that puts common sense before headlines and results before rhetoric.

It means action, not words. Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour head-on. Building the homes we need, with the infrastructure to match. Driving economic growth to every town, village, and high street in Essex.

As your Mayoral candidate, I will be visible, accessible, and relevant and always on the side of residents. I know how to roll up my sleeves and get things done, because that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for two decades.

Essex is ready for its next chapter and I am ready to lead it. With clarity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the people and places that make this county so special.

Let’s put Essex first and let’s do it, together.
